Useful Drug Information Links

These have been included for the purpose of education, debate and discussion.

Please note that this tribute website does not condone or promote the use of any illicit substances, in what ever part of the world you may be in, and respects the laws relating to them, whether it views them as being right or wrong.

Nevertheless we are mindfully aware that in the context of the discussion about drugs, terms such as, right or wrong, good and bad, are in part, emotive concepts created, and used, to denote means and methodologies for social control, upon the basis of dividing the whole unnecessarily. Hence the aim here is to promote a tolerant, informative and wholelistic approach.

It is realised that the picture is a big picture, and acknowledges that not all drug laws are entirely applicable in view of wider community attitudes and use.

We are in a new millennium and please respect yourself first, with any choices you make, or are put before you. Let your decisions be informed decisions, and your decision. You know whats best.

Dear Reader:

Drug War Facts

Updated regularly, Drug War Facts provides reliable information with credible citations on important criminal justice and public health issues.

For this revised edition of Drug War Facts, our projects coordinator Doug McVay has analyzed data from a variety of sources to find new items for inclusion as well as updated those that appeared in earlier editions.

Subsequent facts with the body of the relevant citations are carefully compiled and then scrutinized as to accuracy before posting.

Our mission is to offer useful facts cited from authoritative sources to a debate which is often characterized by myths, error and emotion. We believe an informed society will correct its errors and generate wise policies over time.

Questions, comments or suggestions for additions and modifications may be addressed to Doug McVay via email at: dmcvay@drugwarfacts.org

Sincerely,

Robert E. Field

Confest

We are here to make a better world.

No amount of rationalization, or blaming, can preempt the moment of choice each of us brings to our situation here on this planet. The lesson of the 60's is that people who cared enough to do right could change history.

We didn't end racism but we ended legal segregation.

We ended the idea that you could send half-a-million soldiers around the world to fight a war that people do not support.

We ended the idea that women are second-class citizens.

We made the environment an issue that couldn't be avoided.

The big battles that we won cannot be reversed. We were young, self-righteous, reckless, hypocritical, brave, silly, headstrong and scared half to death.

And we were right.

Abbie Hoffman
